It’s easy to take education for granted. Growing up in the U.S., I never questioned whether my teacher would show up, be prepared, or have the right training — it was simply expected. But in places like Ghana, students often arrive eager to learn, only to wait for a teacher who may never come. Even when teachers do show up, they often lack the training and resources to teach effectively, leaving students without the education they need.
This challenge has frustrated many parents, some even pull their children out of school. But there is hope. Low-fee independent schools provide families with a better option. These schools, led by passionate local proprietors, offer Christ-centered, high-quality education. Parents and school leaders ensure teachers are present and accountable, while training equips them with the skills and resources to teach well.
Edify partners with these schools to offer students something invaluable: a dependable, enriching education. When students show up, their teachers do too — prepared, equipped, and excited to teach. Education is truly a gift that keeps on giving.
