At Edify, we believe teaching is more than a job — it’s a calling. When we talk about “teaching as a mission,” we’re talking about educators who see their work as a response to God’s invitation to serve, shape, and disciple the next generation.
The Greatest Teacher
Jesus, the greatest teacher, sets the example — not only through His words, but through His actions. In Mark 10, when others tried to keep children away, Jesus welcomed them with open arms and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14 (NIV). He saw, knew, and valued each child as an image-bearer of God. In the same way, Christ-centered educators model after Jesus by welcoming, valuing, and discipling every student in their care.
Discipleship happens in the classroom every day. Whether leading a morning devotion, guiding a difficult conversation, modeling patience and forgiveness, or teaching math, teachers have daily opportunities to disciple students as they educate, pointing them to truth and grace. By following Jesus’ example of seeing and welcoming each child, Edify teachers bring new depth, joy, and meaning to learning.
Teaching as a Mission
Teaching as a mission also means creating a healing classroom environment. It’s about supporting learners with special needs, responding to every moment with Christ-centered care, and promoting growth rooted in the love of God. Every learner is seen and valued, not just for their abilities, but for their identity as image-bearers of God.
At Edify, we champion teachers who embrace this mission. Their classrooms become places of hope and transformation, where academic excellence and spiritual growth go hand in hand, and every student is invited to flourish.
