Sierra Leone
Located in West Africa on the Atlantic Ocean, over half of Sierra Leoneans live below the poverty level.

The Need
Only 5% of children from rural areas have foundational reading skills.
One-third of students who have completed primary school will continue on into upper secondary schooling, while 72% are out of school.
Only 23% of students could answer simple addition questions correctly when tested.
In Sierra Leone, child labor and child marriage is particularly common and present one of the largest reasons why students stop their education.
