The Need
109,486 children are currently out-of-school in El Salvador
El Salvador has an 89.1 % literacy rate in children 15 years and older, with 513,351 children still illiterate after the age of 15.
It is estimated that 3 out of 10 people living in El Salvador live in poverty. These families live on less than $5.50 per day per person.
Crime and violence have been a threat to social development and economic growth in El Salvador and are among the factors driving some Salvadorans to migrate.
