Edify began working in Rwanda in 2011 with a long-term commitment to Christ-centered education. Today, the impact is evident as graduated students step into adulthood, carrying their faith into university classrooms and into every sector of work they enter. This transformation is especially visible at Nyarugunga Academy, where faith is shaped through relationships grounded in care and sustained through consistency and prayer.
Nyarugunga Academy
Richard, an alumnus of Nyarugunga Academy, shares the transformation he experienced when he joined a Discipleship Club at his school. The group gathered regularly, opening Scripture together, praying side by side, and learning what it means to follow Christ in everyday life. Richard joined mostly out of curiosity, drawn by the presence of a teacher who listened carefully and created room for questions. In the beginning, he sat quietly, his gaze often fixed on the floor, absorbing the words of others. The room was simple, chairs drawn into a circle, Bibles shared, voices tentative at first, then growing bolder with time. Gradually, Richard began to speak. He began to pray aloud. He later shared that this season “transformed his behavior and laid the foundation for his future.” By his graduation in 2017, his life reflected the lasting impact of discipleship experienced by many students at schools that partner with Edify.
From Student to Leader
Today, Richard is the director of Bethel Christian Academy in Kayonza, Rwanda. Naturally, his school also partners with Edify. After attending various trainings, he was empowered to establish Discipleship Clubs for both students and staff, creating the same kind of community that once shaped him. In his leadership, Christ-centered principles are woven into daily practice. At the 2025 alumni gathering, he stood before 95 new graduates, encouraging them to love one another well and to let their lives reflect the character of Christ. In these graduates and across the wider Bethel Christian Academy community, the likeness of Christ is becoming visible through lives shaped over time by faith and steady hope.
