Internet in a Box Project
The Edify EdTech team has been helping schools to integrate education technology into everday student learning. One of the ways that we do this is by helping schools to adapt learning management solutions (LMS) so that teachers can be equipped with training and content to use technology in the classroom.
As a part of this effort, we are launching a new offline learning device that will enable schools to provide an offline digital library of content, a resource to teach technology skills and a tool for creating localized learning content. The request that we most consistently received from schools using our SMILE project is that they wanted to be able to add their own localized content to the device to align it with local curriculum. This project is a direct follow up to our work on SMILE but upgrades the device, offers expanded content and adds the requested features enabling schools to create their own content using resources like Kolbri.
In February and March of 2022, we provided the first trainings and deployed the first set of new offline learning devices in East Africa with ten devices going to schools in Uganda and another ten to schools in Rwanda. Click on the links below to learn more about how the device is being rolled out and check back to this page for updates on the project.
