Literacy is transformative: it increases earning potential, improves health and breaks the cycle of poverty (UNESCO). Books are necessary for the development of these skills. Worldreader promotes literacy through access to culturally relevant e-books.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Through the literacy program in a Worldreader deployment, students spend time developing and refining their reading skills using titles from local and international authors, improving their reading speed and comprehension to become fully literate students.
TECHNOLOGY USED: Amazon Kindle e-reader devices.
HOW TECH SUPPORTS LEARNING: E-readers provide instantaneous access to a minimum of 100 e-books and textbooks on each device. Students are able to find the definition of words at the press of a finger, and administrators are able to track metrics such as student engagement through device interactions.
